Anyone have a Beaba BabyCook?

It looks really cool, but is kind of pricey. I'm wondering if I can accomplish the same thing with a food processor or blender and a microwave or stove steamer. Thoughts?

Re: Anyone have a Beaba BabyCook?

  • I looked into getting one at WS, but in my experience these things are more of a hassle than a help.  I decided I could accomplish the same thing by steaming veggies (which we do anyway pretty much nightly) and just pop it in my cuisinart hand blender (https://www.cuisinart.com/products/hand_blenders/csb-77.html  I LOVE this thing) or my Breville (which I'm also in love with because it can make shaved ice for snow cones/slushes, which is not what you asked but I'm obsessed with this fact so I bring it up at every opportunity....lol)

  • I use just a food processor and a stove steamer. that seems pretty pricey for something you'll use for 3 or 4 months while they are on purees.

  • We got one as a gift and returned it. I have a food processor and that would have worked fine if I had planned on making my own baby food. Which I didn't, mainly because I buy organic food and your DC is on puree's for so little of a time that it just wasn't worth it to me in the end.

I've read some reviews of this product, and they all complain about not being able to clean the water reservoir.  I think that they're an awesome idea, but I am worried about cleanliness, so we're not getting one.
