Bug Spray ? Recs

Hi all,

We just switched daycares and the new place's outdoor playground is in a very shaded and woodsy area.  Because of this, it is their practice to put bug spray on the kids every day.   (If you really don't want it they won't put it on, but they say the mosquitos can be bad).  So, for now I bought a family friendly type one from "Off" that has deet.  I am very worried about putting chemicals on her the 3 days a week she is there.  Do any of you have any recs for any safer bug spray?  TIA!!!

Re: Bug Spray ? Recs

  • We use JASON's Quit Bugging Me! bug spray. It doesn't have any DEET. I bought it at BRU.

  • Per our pedi we also got a family one which she said is safe for little ones.  She said anything under 15% deet is fine for them.

Yeah, I couldn't find any CA Baby, so I just bought the JASON's. It was $8? I think.

  • We use Burt's Bees.  It's all natural and works really well.

I saw CA Baby at Target when we were across the line and can order it online in Canada- but it's at least $20... I can definitely do $8... will have to find it before our next camping trip :)

  • Eco Smart works really well and it is cheap, I spend under $3. No deet, lemongrass, rosemary, etc.

We use BB's, too and it works great.  I don't care what my pedi says about deet, it won't be touching his skin, ever.

  • My pedi said to stay away from anything with Deet unless it's just on the clothes. He said Off makes something called "Cutter" that doesn't have any deet in it, but I will also have to look for Jason's.
  • Thanks for the advice! I am going to look for some of these alternatives asap!!
