DH has recently put this name on the top of his list. I personally don't like it because I don't want DS to be called "Gary". I told him I would consider it as a middle name (Caleb is my #1 right now...). What do you think?
I can't believe no one has said Garrison Keillor! Anyway I worry about that with Garrett/Gareth which are on my list. I would worry more with that one because it's three syllables.
I have a Garrett, but I also love Garrison. I think Grant and Garrison would be cute together. For what it's worth, we never call Garrett by Gary either. What about Grayson? I like it, too.
I like Garrison a lot...and it sounds really nice with Grant!! If your family does not call him Gary....chances are nobody else will either...and if it happens...just correct them!! :O)
Sweet Jesus, people. What is it with the hangup over nicknames?
I have a good friend named Patrick. It's not Pat, it's Patrick. Period. If someone calls him Pat, he politely says, "I go by Patrick." Are people that stupid that they don't understand that???
People will NOT call him Gary if you don't encourage it. If they do, correct them and move on.

Recent insight from a 24 year old male was that all guys names are shortened to one syllable. That would yield: Gar. Better than Gary. And if you don't start the nn at home, he won't be subject to it unless he likes it...

I like Harrison better, or Garrett/Gareth.

Ditto.
I think of Mr. Garrison.
But for a MN it would sound nice with Caleb, and then no one would call him Gary.?
Most likely going to be called Gary.
NMS at all, sorry.
I really like the name Garrison! it would be on our list but our cousin just named their son Jack Garrison...
I used to work at a day care and I had a little boy named Harrison.. and no one called him Harry. . . .
