For once, I did make this one up. DD is still reveling in all the new stuff we saw while on vacation, so I decided to make jellyfish like we saw at the aquarium. She painted coffee filters with watercolor. I punched two holes in the top, tied a bunch of yarn together, ran one string through the holes and attached it all to a paper plate to make a mobile. I'm sure there are better/cuter ways to make these, but she's happy and the "jellyfish train" is currently hanging in her room. I punched extra holes in the paper plate because I'd like to make more jellyfish or other sea creatures.
In fairness, I worked on this project as much as DD did - but she's so impatient, I thought it would frustrate her. So I painted an old box (it took 3 coats) and cut a slit in the front and a little door (with a finger notch so she can open it) in the back. I wanted to do Post Office blue but we didn't have any and it was naptime so I couldn't run to the store. I got out all the foam letters then had DD hand them to me so I could put them on. We also made "mail" for everyone in our family. This project is a BIG HIT and I'll probably have her decorate it eventually - it's so plain.
What have you done lately?
