i did not take progesterone. i do, however, have epilepsy and took (and am still taking) topamax during pregnancy. it is a newer drug and is category C. the hypospadias was found at birth, although i had 9 u/s throughout pregnancy including level II and 3D.
my neurologist and OB did not find until he was born that the medicine may have played a role in it, but out of the other birth defects that are associated with it (cleft palate and neural tube defects), i would choose hypospadias anyday. it is so easily fixable.
i take 4mg folic acid a day so hopefully this one will be just as perfect as he was
Re: **xnbride**
Thanks for the info. I am taking extra folic acid too, but more as empiracle treatment for repeated loss. After doing alot of research on progesterone, I figured that the benefits far outweighed the risks and that like you said it is easily treated with surgery. thank you for the information-I appreciate you sharing.
and congrats on your new pregnancy!! This one has been a bit more difficult than the first. But I am getting "my second wind" now and feeling much better now. How are you doing?
