Ian was a pretty roll-with-it baby. Content to sit and play, etc. Not so with Max. He FIGHTS sleep, and writhes and rolls all over the place. He makes a TON of noise and tries to shove everything into his mouth as far as he can while growling! He's already up on all fours rocking, something Ian actually never did. (He did this buttscoot thing until he was a year, when he finally learned he could crawl!) So this is all new to me.
With that I don't think Max sleeps enough. He'll do like 8-9 hours at night and only about 90 mins worth of naps during the day. This should get longer, right? I don't know if it's because he's hitting these milestones now (sitting, possibly crawling, etc).
Sorry I'm rambling (tired, up since 5 something) but I need to know if others have had this experience!
Re: Anyone have an "intense" infant?
Yes, Evan was a very intense baby. Fought sleep, fought eating, was constantly on the go once he was mobile. He crawled early and walked on the early side of normal. And you know, he still is intense as a preschooler. He was very exhausting as a baby especially.
Abby on the other hand, is totally easy going and laid back and go with the flow kind of girl. She can be a little dramatic but NOTHING like Evan was.
You just described my DD as an infant. Your problem is you had your laid-back baby first so you are in shock with this one whereas I didn't know it could be different. My (2nd baby) son is so laid-back that I am in baby heaven right now.
At six months old my DD would only take two 30-minute naps per day, and it took me about an hour to get her down for those naps. She screamed most of the time she was awake, hated her carseat, hated to be held by other people, and even screamed if someone said 'hello' to her. She was mobile early and into EVERYTHING. She was never or rarely calm and relaxed. I just accepted early on that this was how my child was, and I looked for the positive things in her personality. It was never good for me to compare her to other babies her age.
Now she is 3 and is an intelligent, verbal, happy and social child. She is still very intense and prone to drama; but getting more self-sufficient every day.
Good luck! HTH.
