DS is napping on his tummy for the first time. After battling with him for over and hour and a half, I gave in... this is alright at 3 weeks old, right? I keep going to check on him every 5 minutes, just in case.
Whether or not it is ok is debatable. I put DD on her belly starting at 6 weeks, doing naps right next to me. Once I knew she was able to pick up and turn her head on her own, I put her on her belly for nights. She has been on her belly soley since 7 weeks. The video monitor has been my lifesavor! I can see her breathing on it!
I started putting my DD on her tummy for some of her naps since she was 3 weeks old, but she slept right next to me on the couch. I couldn't leave her and even just check on her for fear that something would happen.
I could never do this at night. I'm such a paranoid wreck right now! He's had nothing but horrible gas and tummy pains the past two days and this is the most peaceful I've seen him since then...
I'll keep him on his tummy for naps, but I suppose I won't be able to do this for his four hour nap. Too much of a risk.
It depends who you ask. Autumn sleeps best on her tummy at 2 weeks old. She?s able to move her head from side to side if need be, if she weren?t able too, her tummy lying would be very minimal. It also depends on how firm the surfaces is, another words my bed is too soft for her at the moment for her to sleep on her tummy unless I?m with her awake and alert.
In the hospital they told me not to place her on her back or her tummy, but only on her side. This worked for about a week with her then she?d get extremely irritable.
Being my fourth child I?ve learned the do?s and don?t to the best of my knowledge and know what works best for each individual child.
My pedi actually recommended tummy naps supervised to help shape his face to not be so round. He doesnt sleep long that way but I will keep working on it. Supervised I think it is just fine!
The only way that Jacob will sleep is if he is on his tummy, and has been that way since we brought him home. At first is scared me to death, but I realized that if I ever wanted to sleep again that is how he would sleep. And now that he sleeps in his crib most of the night and we have the angle care monitor I am ok with it.
With our first child we tried to put him on his back but he resisted and would become really fussy so we put him on his tummy and he was completly fine. withe the second he slept on his back for maybe a week and then he perfered sleeping on his tummy(this was the only way he would sleep on his own). He is doing fine, he is now a month old and is sleeping on his tummy and he is able to turn his head from side to side, also when we lay him on his tummy I turn his head to the side.
