I think that Christians (and I am one) have a lot to answer for. Even if one sees abortion as murder, is it worse than lust? IIRC, aren't all sins equal in the eyes of God?

Yes, and Jesus dies for all our sins.
i can't believe i said that on an interwebz message board.
Are you asking if a Christian who has an abortion will still go to heaven? I believe so, yes. I don't believe abortion (or murder) to be a faith issue. There is one unforgivable sin, disbelief in the Holy Spirit. All other sins are equal in God's eyes.
I believe that God knows what is in your heart, and if you agonize about a decision, He knows. I believe that as with many things, it isn't the destination that is important, but the process of getting there.
So...I think that if you fight a battle in your head and heart over what you are going to do in that situation, God knows that, and knows that you were choosing between two untenable options, and would not punish you more than you have already punished yourself.
Flipside? I believe that if you honestly do not believe that what you are doing is wrong, that God knows the action was taken without malicious intent.
I think that if God knows your heart, then he already knows why you made that decision and will forgive. ?But I do think you'll have another child to meet when you get there.
I don't know if I consider myself Christian, but I was raised Christian and I feel like I have a certain respect to the religion so that's why I answered.?

I agree. I've always thought about sin that way.

Christianity, by and large, portrays God as a forgiving entity, correct? Confess and repent, and all that?
Christ suffered and descended to Hell so that believers would not face the same.
EIther you take that on faith or you don't. People who confess and repent for any sin (perceived or real) will be forgiven.
LOL. You just love stirring the pot, huh?

My god is a vengeful god.
But I'll save y'all a place in hell. I have some front row tickets.
