Plane Travel: ID for baby?

Do you need a birth certificate or something for the kid when you travel by plane?  I still haven't ordered ours.  Embarrassed

  • Different airlines will tell you different things. Even a shot record is fine though. It is just to show something with their date of birth.

  • I've only been asked in NOLA for something for DD. We use an ImmTrac print out of her shot record. It took the pedi 5 min to print it out for us.
  • I had a copy of his BC just in case ... but we flew 3 airlines and not one asked me for proof of age for him.

  • They've never asked with my kids except when we flew out of the country and then we had passports.
  • we just flew last weekend on delta and us airways and didn't need an id..i did have a copy of her bc in case though
  • i don't know what airline you're flying, but every time i fly Southwest they ask for the BC - they also issue her a boarding pass even though she doesn't have her own seat
