Hmmm? Bikinis and Bumps

Just wanted to know how my fellow bumpies feel about rocking the bikini with full on baby bump?

I did it today at the beach (in my pre-PG bikini no less, go me) and got some very strange looks I wasnt expecting. I didnt see the problem, some women (and men) have much larger bellies than mine and arent PG, whats the deal??

PS - I had SPF 50 on the belly, so no worries! Cool

Re: Hmmm? Bikinis and Bumps

  • I'm taking my bikini to the beach, but I also bought a maternity tankini from Motherhood.  Personally I think that bikini's on pregnant ladies are just adorable and I would love to wear mine, but only being nearly 16 weeks I'm still not looking awful pregnant unless you know me...

  • I've been wearing a full on pre-preg bikini from VS Wink  I bought it in a size bigger to accommodate the boobs and hips.  I really haven't gotten any wierd looks at all!  Actually last weekend there was another pg woman rockin the bikini as well!  I agree that some people should be covering up, we are not them people Smile

  • I've been wearing a regular bikini too - also just went up a size or two to accommodate the growth.   I think it's more flattering than a maternity suit!

Agreed! Although I do see why the people behind me laughed when I ran from the attack seagulls, my ass jiggles like it never jiggled before.

  • If I had a smokin bod, I'd be sportin that bump in a bikini right up 'till 40 wks!!! Right now, i'm embarassed to put my fat a$$ in a tankini with granny pants, since my thighs resemble cottage cheese and my hips are much rounder than my belly! haha!
  • I'm too nervous to wear a bikini to the beach. I will wear it in front of friends and family at the pool but not at the beach. I feel like I will offend some people. I know I shouldn't care about what others thing, but I still do.

    uh yeah that!

  • When I was in Hawaii there was a lady staying at the same hotel as me that looked to be about 7 or 8 mos. preg and she wore a white bikini and she looked fantastic!! Maybe the looks you are getting are looks of 'oh, look at that adorable pregnant girl' like I was looking at her :) Except I smiled and waved, so I don't think she mistook me as looking at her in a strange way.
  • I bought a tankini from Target and it covers my stomach and has boy shorts too, so I don't have to sport the hairy non waxed bikini line I have. I just can't do it now that I'm prego! Too much sensitivity.

as for wearing a bikini-for some people it looks good and its comfortable, for me, unless I have been working my ass off I won't wear one. I'm totally self conscious unless my stomach is firm and a little tanned. Yep, I don't wear a bikini much..oh well

I totally agree some people should cover up more, and those people aren't the pregnant ones. The old men I saw on my cruise last year-ghastly!! what they say about cruises is true-people really go for the food, and these people weren't even close to starving..woof!

  • Wearing my regular bikinis and will be buying a larger size regular bikini to accommodate my growing hip chubb.

Comfort is my first priority and I find one-piece suits restricting.

  • I wore one of my pp bikinis the other day at the pool while my son was in his swim lessons. I could see one particular woman staring at me from across the pool. She's a friend of my sil's. I live in a conservative area and it was at our club. I felt odd, but at least the pool wasn't packed.
  • i think its cute, but 40 weeks in a bikini might look like a bit much, i guess it all depends how you carry. ive seen much worse in bikinis and swim trunks...people who had no business wearing them!

  • I delivered mid September with DD and was wear a boyshort/halter bikini in August with her. I'm rocking the regular binkini this time as well.  Up until recently I've been able to make do with my pre pg binkini but now I need to up grade.  My cup has definately begun to runith over, but I'll be getting another regular one.  I'm just not a fan of the way maternity suits look.

thats my situation too...but i am hot all the time, so i may break down and scare some onlookers so i can be comfortable

  • whoa had a little technical difficulties with that post...haha

  • I think it's cute when pregnant woman wear bikinis as long as there aren't a ton of stretch marks.  I'd do it but after baby #1 I have some stretch marks.  But kudos to you for rocking it!!!
  • i wear my bikini every time i am at the beach. i'm very proud of my bump:)

  • I'm still rockin a bikini... and last PG I wore one up until I popped... I was all belly.

    I say do it!

  • I'm not a fan, more power to you if you feel to do it.
  • i wore my prepg binkini to the pool today!  i was actually surprised that my girls stayed in there!  it might be time to go up a size. ;)
  • I've rocked the pre-pg bikini while pg with all 3 of my pregnancies.  I'm comfy, cute and I have no stretch marks (yet.)  I think baby bumps are beautiful and if someone doesn't want to see mine they don't have to look!
