I want to have a natural birth and I know the best chances of having that are either through a home birth or at a birth center. I haven't completely been sold on the home birth thing, so I'm wondering if there are any birth centers in MN... I tried Googling it, but didn't find too much, so I'm wondering if any of you ladies know?
Re: Any birth centers in MN?
I don't know of any birthing centers but if it come down to choosing a hospital for natural birth I would look into Woodwinds in Woodbury. I have heard a lot of great things about it and wished I would have delivered there.

I have experience with ER doctors (wonderful) and an associated OB (Dr. Diane Gillman) through Allina Clinic who is also wonderful. This place has midwives which will give a high likelihood of a natural birth should you choose (assuming no complications happen).
I have been extremely please with my experience so far, and highly recommend it.
There are no freestanding birthcenters in MN, yet. If you want to have a natural birth, Woodwinds sister hospital, St Joes has midwives out of the HealthEast MacGroveland clinic and they also have a water birth tub.
They are located in downtown St Paul.

I would also suggest you get a doula. Ask here for references here or on the EFF board. Mine isn't taking on clients now.
There is a birth center opening in MN. I believe it is due to open in October. It will be in Saint Louis Park.
It will be owned and operated by the people from this birth center in Menomonie, WI: https://www.morningstarbirth.com/index.cfm
Here is a thread from Mothering magazine in regards to the birth centers complete with some of the providers names and information. https://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=1054225
A lot of red tape may occur, as with any healthcare facility that needs inspection by the governemnt, so expect delays and be happy if their aren't.
That was the original plan. But it's not open yet. I'll find out when it is for sure, I know a lot of people involved in the birthing community...they know more of the details.
Interestingly, Woodwinds actually has a pretty high c-section rate (https://feyder.blogspot.com/2008/11/twin-cities-hospital-cesarean-rates.html).
I would look into St. Joe's....

I had a waterbirth at Lakeview in Stillwater, MN.
Go see Fern Aspen (she is AWESOME) or Tallison Flagg, both are mid-wifes who deliver via water. I loved my experience. Fern wasnt on-call or scheduled to work and she came in to deliver my baby.
She does ask that you read a few natural birthing books.
