Where did you schedule a 2D/3D u/s?

My parents live nine hours away and will be visiting the Labor Day weekend/week after. I will be 17w5d on the Wednesday after Labor Day and would love to have my mom at the big u/s. I am going to call my doctor Monday and see if he'd be willing to schedule it (I know that's earlier than the typical 18-20wks). If not, I was thinking of just scheduling a 2D or 3D u/s somewhere as I've heard others have done, but I'm not sure where to do that. Can you just call an independent imaging center and schedule something like that? Would I ask the peri I am going to for my NT scan? Not sure how this works...if you've had one done, will you let me know what you did?

I went to an independent place called Baby In Me Imaging Center. I just called and told them the date I wanted and they fit me in. They told me that as long as I was over 16 weeks, it should be fine. I went at 17 w 5 d and they determined we were having a girl. This place lets you come back for free if they can't determine the first time. I only got the 2D but they let us see her in 3D and even gave us a pic. That was the first time she actually looked like a baby! I would highly recommend it! We just couldn't wait until 20 weeks! And to answer your question...I went to an independent place called Meet the Baby at almost 15 weeks because I wanted to know if Lily was truly a Lily before we went to NC for Thanksgiving. They were able to see everything pretty clearly.

I will say this about the 3D before 25-28 weeks...they look a tad scary because they don't have enough fat on their little bodies so you can almost see right through them.

We are going to a Stork Vision place. We are just doing a 2D ultrasound to find out the sex because my husband is out of state for work and I am here visiting. We are paying $125 to do it so we can find out together.

I see you are from KC! I just had mine done at a place in Lenexa about a week ago when I was visiting family.

There are a few places that I know of - Johnson County Ultrasound, Independence Women's Clinic, Prenatal Imaging Center & Belly Image

The two that are on the MO side are Prenatal Imaging Center & Independence Women's Clinic. Although, it's really not a long drive to either of the others.

They will do a 2D ultrasound, but I seriously doubt they would do a 3Dsince you are so early. I went to Belly Image in Lenexa because they were the only place that I could find that would take me to do a 3D at 24 weeks. The rest said I was too early.

We just scheduled our 3d4d ultrasound. I googled them for our area and we actually only had one so I looked at the website and then called to schedule an appointment. Just to let ya know you might want to just do a 2d if you go to an independent place or see if they have a package where you can come back for multiple sessions bc at 17 weeks the babies look like little aliens. Not the most attravtive at that age. lol

I was told the best time was 26-33 weeks. Mine will be at 27 weeks.
