pulled muscle in abdomen?

I've noticed that when I do certain activities I get a pulled muscle sensation in my abdomen, on the right side.  It's happened several times when I've gotten out of the car.  Anyone else have this?  Should I be concerned?

I should note it's not a really strong pain, but it's new (i.e. only since I've been pregnant) and I haven't done anything that would really cause a muscle pull, so that's what leads me to think it might be baby-related.

 Thoughts?

Re: pulled muscle in abdomen?

  • Could be round ligament pain.

  • Sounds like round ligament pain. Completely normal. It happens to me when I cough or sneeze...I have to scrunch myself up in order for it not to hurt. LOL.
  • Yep, get it a lot.  Have been getting it from the very beginning.  Sometimes it's just a pull and feels better right away, sometimes it continues to be sore for a few days.
  • I agree. It sounds like RLP... Saying that,  I think you are bit early to be experiencing that sort of symptom just yet. Do twins run in your family?
  • It could be the RLP (growing pains) I had the same feeling for about a week and it worried me to the point that I went to ER. It turned out to be a small cyst on my right ovary caused by the pregnancy and is nothing to be concerned about, it will go away on its own in a few weeks. Mention it to your OB next time you go in and they can do a sonogram to see what may be causing the pain. In the mean time, when you get the pain try to sit or lay down if its possible at the time. Just try to take it easy until you see or speak with a doctor. Hope it is nothing serious!
