Bed rest ladies...

My friend's water broke yesterday at almost 32 weeks pregnant.  They are hoping to keep the baby in for 2 more weeks and she is on hospital bed rest until contractions start (they are not going to stop them).

I wanted to send he something....any ideas?  Obviously magazines, a book, crossword puzzles, etc.

Maybe some sort of craft?

Re: Bed rest ladies...

  • *Snacks that she can keep next to her bed
    *Magazines
*Book - I rec. the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich very funny and will keep her entertained.
*A great chick flick on DVD
    *Popcorn that is already popped

You are very sweet to think of her.

  • Maybe a journal so she could document her stay? Craft things sound good too. I'm just not sure what. Does she knit? Maybe a learn how to knit book and some yarn and needles?
  • I think you're already one the right track and with all this advice she'll appreciate you taking the time to make her stay at the hospital a little easier and don't forget your visits! :)

  • All those ideas are great. Does she have a computer with her? Playing something online with her when you're not there can be fun- like lexulous, which is online scrabble, you can play live or via email.
I would say more than anything, visits from people is what I value the most. It is nice when they bring some snacks (like muffins in the AM or lunch or something else in the PM) but not necessary- the time chatting & whatnot is the best part.?
Also offering to do something at her house when the time gets closer is nice- if she delivers close enough to term that the babies will get to come home with her soon after, doing some of the laundry of the clothes/etc could be really helpful.?

    You're a good friend!?
  • Thanks ladies - I moved 8 hours away last year so no visits are possible :-(.

She loves to play online scrabble with her sister so maybe I'll try that too since her sister is away for 2 weeks.

Ahhhh. Bummer! Well schedule phone calls then maybe :)?

  • VISIT HER! It can be so depressing being there with no one. Sometimes the hubby is working or family is busy taking care of the siblings etc. Just a quick visit or a good phone call is so sweet! GL
  • My sister is 33 weeks today with GGG triplets (with another daughter at home who will be 5 at the end of September!).  One of the best things anyone has sent her has actually been to pay for a week of her TV being hooked up.  She has been in the hospital since May 1st (her own b-day!) on total bedrest and the bills for her tv/phone are actually starting to add up since she has been in so long.  Just a suggestion, but she thought it was a great thing to send to her.
