2nd Trimester

I can't even take a bubble bath without getting scolded?

I posted on my Facebook " (Name) is going to take a bubble bath in hopes of feeling better" because my legs are sore, my back is throbbing, and I have a massive headache. I guess I forgot that I would have gotten scolded.

Within minutes I was told that I need to be careful and it's very dangerous for the baby. This person has no children, and I guarantee that I have read and rearched a looooot more than she has. I was obsessively reading about all of the do's and don't's for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. I know sitting in a hot bath or a hot tub for a long period of time is not wise, but a 10 min bath is not going to harm my baby.

Do people think that we have no idea what is safe for the baby? Don't they realize that this is MY child, and I have an amazing love for my baby? I would of course never intentionally do anything harmful to my baby!!

UGH.

  • People always have to know more it seems... I hate it!

  • Yes!!!  I agree.  People sometimes need to back off and mind their own business.  I love getting tips and advice from veteran parents, but NOT on facebook or other public places.  Don't you think they'd realize that was inappropriate?  Every time I post smething on facebook, people turn it into a pregnancy thing.  "I'm going out to eat with my husband tonight!"  And everyone says "feed the babies!"  "Eat for three!"  "Make sure you don't eat fish!"

I never realize how many people are experts :)

  • Duh facebook has a Medical School app now.

I wouldn't worry about it.  And I'd soak for more than 10 minutes.  It takes longer than that just to fill a tub.  Just, ya know, try not to make it boiling or anything.

I think I was really in there for 15-20 min tops, I feel like I overheat so easily now. I actually took a shower last week with lukewarm water and the shower curtain half open (to get cool air) and I was still hot. My little baby is a firecracker!

  • I can't stand people and their unwanted "expert" opinions. I took a bath last night in my jet tub for 20 minutes and it felt *WONDERFUL*. (although, I took the temp of the water 'cuz im totally paranoid, made sure it wasn't more than 105 degrees)
  • People are unbelievable. I take a bath just about everyday and LO is still in there with a strong beating heart.

  • Thats just craziness. I agree with the OP - its insane to think that as teh mother of your LO feeling him or her grown and move you'd do something to jeopardize the baby/s well being. I'm SO tired of opinions - and the irony of it - like you said - the people that do not have children have never been pregnant seem to miraculously know the most and have the most opinions. Enjoy your soak I know I do weekly cause my back is just in agony, and then theres my massages every other month since I hit 2nd Tri ;-)

  • With my first pregnancy I took a bath almost everyday just to relax.  But like you I over heated very fast and wasn't in there long.  I've never heard it being bad for the baby.  What i've heard is the babies don't like it bc they can't hear.  The baby just kicked a lot but that wasn't uncommon.
  • Ugh!  I take a bath every night to relax.  tell them thanks for the advice but you'll continue to listen to what your doctor says you can and can't do.
  • Well at least for you its coming from complete people who are not there 24/7. My bf yells at me constantly.

Kristi dont stand to close to the microwave... Kristi dont take that hot of a shower... Kristi you cant sleep like that your squishing the baby... Kristi don't sit with the wirless laptop computer too close to your stomach...

UGH! let me be... I've read plenty about what is ok and not ok and he just thinks he can shout at me and run the show....

  • I quit putting stuff on Facebook because I was getting slammed for EVERYTHING! I followed allll the rules before and had 2 miscarriages. This time I am doing what I think is best, everything in moderation, and making the right decisions for me and my baby. Of course I'm not doing anything really stupid, like drinking alcohol or smoking, but I had a spray tan and I rented a doppler. Do what you think is best, safe, and are comfortable with. It's all up to you, your SO, and your Dr. No one else!
