Combining pumped breastmilk from different days?

Can you combine freshly pumped breast milk with 1-3 day old breast milk that was refrigerated together before freezing?

I have 1 ounce from a few days ago and wanted to combine it with my 4 oz today.  Just didn't want to freeze only 1 ounce by itself.

Is it okay to combine breastmilk pumped from different days? TIA

  • You can combine any breastmilk from any day, unless it's different temperatures.  So you wouldn't want to mix fresh pumped milk with cold milk, without first heating the cold milk.  You could also put the fresh pumped milk in the fridge first and once it's all about the same temperature then you can mix it.

  • I do.  I don't know if it's bad or not, DD is fine.  I just pour the fresh milk in with the fridge milk until i have 4oz, and then I freeze it.

  • I do this.  I  had 3oz in a bottle and pumped another 3 and combined it into a bag to store. Some days I get 4 oz and the next I will get 6 so I mix to make two 5oz bottles
