Crib Shopping Impossible! Rant...

Okay so every crib on my list that Consumer Reports, and Baby Bargains agree are good cribs are only online! I hate BRU, Target, and every other store who has these cribs online only! How is a person supposed to decide which crib is most user friendly for them if they can't see it in person? Evil conspiracy against parents-to-be, I swear. Okay my rant is done...

Re: Crib Shopping Impossible! Rant...

  • We just went and bought one we liked from the store.  It was really simple.  It's a dropside (gasp), but we love it.

I haven't bought one yet, but I thought JC Penney had the best selection...they can be a little pricier but seem to go on sale fairly often.

  • I want a drop side because I'm short, but I wanted to look at a few stationary to see how difficult it would be. And DH won't leave the house with out a "gameplan" and a list of 2-3 cribs that CR has approved for safety and Baby Bargains book also recommends. I am now at a complete loss at what to do, since my parents want to buy the crib, and of course they want to see it first and help pick it out. But NONE are carried in a store!

  • LOL!  I noticed that myself.  Ya know I just got a cheapie 120 dollar one from BRU that is AWESOME.  I say just go to the store and play around... this is one of the easier things to pick out IMO

  • If you find a crib that you like, but can only find it online to purchase, have you tried going to the manufacturers website and checking out the "find a retailer near you" section?  Most sites have them.  You may be able to find your crib at a specialty store in your area, go there and check it out and buy it online at a cost savings.  Just an idea.

The drop-side we bought is the Graco Lauren.  Graco is a great company and the crib is very sturdy!
