I thought we'd try some mashed avocado mixed with breast milk tonight - epic failure. My kid, who will eat pretty much anything, gagged and made the worst faces. We won't be trying that again any time soon!
(I couldn't get pictures of the best disgusted faces... but here's a couple)
Re: Avocado as baby food? FAIL. PIP.
J did the same thing but liked it day 3.
I also mix it with pear or apple and cereal.
I always thought people started with the foods easiest to digest and least allergenic (squash, pears etc) moving to the hardest ones last (green veggies)?
I see people here starting with some rough stuff like peas, broccoli, green beans?
Mixing it with something sweeter is a good idea. I put a little bit of bm in with it (and yes, I tried it after it was mixed) and it was gross. I don't blame him for not liking it.
Jar - we started with sweet potatoes. I read (and heard from my pedi) that orange/yellow veggies are the easiest to digest, so that's where we started. Wholesomebabyfood.com suggests starting with avocado - but after my experience, I would tend to disagree!
This was my understanding, too - based on what I've read/pedi has said.
Avocados are actually fruits not vegetables and they're pretty mild and easy to digest. They're not very allergenic either, plus they're super healthy. DS tried them right after bananas and pears. He loved them!
