How do you ignore other people who do it?
?
SIL is 20 weeks pg with her 2nd baby. Her DS is 8. She keeps proudly proclaiming (basically a poorly veiled insult to our parenting style) that her NB will be CIO from day one and "this ain't her first rodeo" and all kinds of shiit that makes me want to punch her.
?
How do you refrain from beating a ho??
Re: ? for those who are anti-CIO
I don't. I'm like Kathy Griffin. I'll cut a b!tch.?
First order of business, I love your new siggy. So cute and dramatic!
Now, I would confidently tell this know nothin, bout nothin professional mother to read a fvcking book.
I swear some people should not reproduce. Parenting classes need to be a requirement!! There are pre-req's for everything else in life.. (driving tests, pre-marriage councling, etc)
Woa. I'm not anti CIO necessarily if done properly (although I hope to never have to do it) but that's just awful. I would feel horrible for that baby
And no, I don't think I could ignore that.
I should specify i'm also not anti, just uninterested bc my heart breaks when he cries.?
?
?
And frankly, i think it's a form of abuse/torture to let a NB go through that ON PURPOSE.?
This will make her look like a weak wimp in her eyes...
I have explained to people who push the issue that I don't believe it fosters a sense of security and trust which is the most important thing I want my dd to feel at this time. I have read the articles as well and am almost to the point of printing them off for my in laws. I have let them know I plan to set limits and boundaries but I do not believe that begins with CIO.
I would have a really hard time with somebody who is telling me they would let an infant cio...
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
I meant allowing a newborn to cio..I respect and understand why people to cio with infants..just not for me!
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
I think it's so unfair for a newborn baby to have to go through that. I mean, she was in a nice, cozy womb for 9 months and then bam! She's thrown out into the world to be left by their mother to cry and cry. I am not anti-CIO, I actually tried it once just a few weeks ago with my 6 wk old LO and after going through the crying for 20 mins until he finally fell asleep...I looked at his red face (must be from the crying) and I swore to myself that I would never do that again. How would I like it if someone locked me in a room all by myself and never came to my aid even after all the crying and pleading I did? Sigh. Babies need the warmth and loving from their parents, especially their mothers. I never did the whole CIO with my first born and she is byfar the most loving and sweetest little girl I know and everyone who has met her agrees (she picked out flowers for me today btw). You know, they're only babies once. What's a few months or maybe a year or two of holding and cuddling? After that, they probably won't even want to hold your hands!
