I do see a chiropractor, but he also happens to be a trained doula, so he is very informed proper treatment during pregnancy. He did have me talk to my doctor just to confirm I had no conditions that would prohibit him from adjusting my lower back and my hip (I have hip issues). She gave me the go ahead. It has been amazing so far and I plan to continue to go.
There are some chiros that have a specialization in prenatal chiro care. Check them out. And if anyone is in the NY area, I have a great friend who is a specialized chiro in this area.
I have not actually seen one yet but I will be next week. I talked with my Doctor about it and he's all for it. I already have terrible back pains which I know will get worse the further along I get.
I go to a chiro and OB says it's ok. As long as they know you are pregnant, and they know what they can and can't do (i.e. certain positions, etc) then it should be fine - and it definitely makes you feel so much better, especially with the lower back pain.
I am a huge advocate for chiropractic care during pg. During my first pg I had it the entire time (that is when I started chiro care actually). I felt that I had a very easy pg; totally enjoyed being pg. This time around, we moved to a different state so I started chiro care then had a 2-3mos absence and just had my 1st appt yesterday. HEAVEN. And I absolutely noticed a difference in that 2-3mos span when I was having no care.
I'm nothing but chiropractic anymore...have been for over 15 years and I'll start my children off the day they are born. VERY beneficial for pain, helping labor progress effortlessly and properly, but also immunity, post delivery subluxations for baby (seriously...you should see some of the newborn xrays that docs completely ignore) and therefore, all the wonderful symptoms they encounter in their first months. Many chiro babies don't get ear infections, colic, food allergies....but most of these babies are also without vaccinations so who knows what causes the cease in symptoms.
Looong story short, chiropractic is great! lol
Think about it, the brain and spine control EVERYTHING! They should be well maintained.
Re: Chiropractic care while pg??
I am all for chiropractic. Helps with my hip pain!
My midwife is all for it.
