I got a faint positive pregnancy test this morning and plan to take another tomorrow morning with FMU. How do I decline drinks tonight when going out with family for a birthday? I know that MIL will catch on, she's like that! Thanks

Tell her your stomach is kind of feeling funky or that you had too much to drink the night before and you're taking the night off.

Another option is to say that you are not drinking to try and lose some weight (I used that for 8 weeks with co-workers)

that will be my excuse when I'm in first tri. Plus, I used to get migraines ALL the time so it wouldn't be suspicious for me.

If you can order without her hearing -- I don't know the atosphere or how many people -- you can get a drink that looks like an alcoholic drink (e.g. get diet coke and say it has rum in it or cranberry and vodka). When I was pregnant I poured myself sprite with a drop of apple juice to make it look like champagne for a toast at an engagement party.

I'd use the I'm the designated driver excuse or say you've already had a few drinks before you left and don't want to get drunk. Man I sound like an alcoholic, but I might have a couple drinks before we leave if I don't have to drive there...

I am not pregnant yet but hoping for a BFP in the next two weeks. I have a friend coming in to town right after I will test this cycle. She informed me the other day that I 'better not be trying for a baby because we need to get drunk' and 'I will totally know if you are KU if you don't drink'. It makes me really uncomfortable when people watch so closely to try to be the first ones to know. I want to be able to chose when and how I share that news!

Seems to be an ongoing problem while TTC and just KU.
