I'm watching last night's episode and it has to be the worst one yet. The girl and her mother are pregnant at the same time and have to be the trashiest family I've ever seen. I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but seriously. The house is filthy and the girl is the biggest baby ever. Condoms people!
Re: 16 and pregnant today
And here I was thinking it was one of the better episodes, because she clearly had a supportive family that was struggling and trying to help each other and I loved that her boyfriend was clearly the most involved yet. He actually looked like he liked her and wanted the child. He was the only one I've seen voluntarily care for the baby to help her out when she was in so much pain, without being asked/begged/ordered to do it.
The girl wasn't my favorite person - she was very young and not terrifically prepared to be a mom, but she seemed to take it seriously and seemed to learn how to help out with her brother so he'd have some experience and had a plan for how to help get her life back on track (GED, trade school/college) with a decent career opportunity.
Sure, they were backwoods/hillbilly/whatever, and yes, the house was a mess - but so is mine. Our apartment looked much like their house before we moved because we simply had no more room to put anything - they had 5 adults and 2 babies crammed into what was essentially a 2 bedroom trailor.
Editing to add - perhaps it's just me and perhaps it's just because we live in a very cluttered environment, but clutter doesn't always equal filth. I noticed that the kitchen was clean, the bathroom appeared the clean, the dishes were regularly washed and they picked up dog poop. Cluttered, bursting at the seams, but I wouldn't consider that filthy.

That show is so addicting!
I was dismayed that the huge happy ending of the episode was them moving into the other mother's house. It's going to be a long time before those two can support themselves like grown ups. What makes these kids so young think they can start families!?
I'm all for more sex ed in schools!! And even more at home!!!?
I was just wondering if we were going to talk about this! I totally agree that she is the biggest baby of all time. I can't beleive that anyone I know would accept to take my Grandma's room in HER house so I can sleep with my baby daddy!
I will say one thing, he did seem like the best father out of the episodes so far. No buying playstations, or going out partying.
But yes...Condoms people Condoms!
Yeah that episode was horribly terrific... she was a big baby about the entire thing, and just seemed to whine about anything she could think of. Her BF was wonderful and that was really good to see. I kinda feel bad for him because he'll end up taking care of both the baby and his gf.
As far as her... "I'll drop out of school because I'm afraid of everyone making fun of me" thing... that's total BS. I don't care that she said she was going to take the GED... she completely flaked on even trying to study for it while she had the time before the baby came.
