2nd Trimester

2nd tri feeling better?

Everything I have read and been told is that you feel much better in the 2nd tri.  Being as I am getting close, I was hopeful to get some stories from all you 2nd tri mommies so that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and know it's not a train.

Tell me about your symptoms before and how you are feeling now.  When did your symptoms start and when did they get better?

TIA

Re: 2nd tri feeling better?

  • I have my appetite back, and I'm not throwing up or nauseated all the time, but I still have to make sure I don't over do it because I WILL get sick. I hope in a couple weeks that'll go away...

  • I've felt pretty much the same, but I'm also very early into the 2nd tri. I had a fairly easy 1st tri, with fatigue being my worst symptom. I had slight nausea and food aversions, but those are both gone. I'm slowly getting my energy back as well.

  • I was really fatigued and nauseated every night in the first tri, but I'm now almost feeling like my old self. I have energy and I can eat whatever I want now.  When I hit about 13 weeks, I kept waiting on the nausea to go away, but it took until about 17 weeks for it to clear up for me.  Be patient, but hopefully it will come.  The worst part about what I feel now is heartburn!

I am nowhere near as tired.  I would sit down and pass out till I was about 18 weeks.  Now I am able to do a lot more.  I worked 24 hours of overtime on this last paycheck so I would say I am much better!  But, the nausea isn't really going away.  It has improved though to where I can function and have put on a few pounds (my belly feels huge for only 22 weeks!).  Things will get better.  Don't go to 3rd tri though cause it looks like we have a small window before we start all new fun things like swelling and varicose veins!

  • I can eat more but I still feel a little sick in the morning. I am actually more tired but it turns out I am anemic so hopefully the iron pills help. I have been constipated too. :( I am just actually happy that the m/s has let up...it was pretty bad.

  • I was really fatigued and nauseated all day and all night in the first tri and up until about a week ago.  My Dr had put me on a compounded nauseated medicine that did wonders, if I didn't take it I'd be back to being sick again.  I still take it cause being sick sucks and I'm afriad it will come back!  Everyone is different so you may clear up in a week or 2 or it may stay.  Some women have it their whole pregnancy or it comes back later in the 3 tri.  Who knows why, just hang in there and try and make the best of it. =)

  • I had a very rough first tri. I worked at a doggy daycare and had to quit my job at 10 weeks cause I was nauseous all the time. I only threw up a few times but I would gag and hev and feel very sick and crampy to my stomach. I didn't ever want to eat cause I would feel like getting sick soon after but if I didn't eat I would be weak and dizzy. I even went to the hospital one really bad night thinking I had food posioning, the Dr. gave me an antinause perscription and said I just had really bad "morning" sickness. To be sure they checked my gallbladder and intestines during my first ultra sound and everything looked fine. I survived on peanut butter crackers, apples, and turkey sandwiches, all other smells and food were disgusting to me exspecially cooking meat (bacon, steaks, porkchops, ect). Eating very small amonts often made me feel better. My symptoms started at 71/2 weeks and cleared up around14 weeks then I got strep throat at 16 weeks and felt like I was dieing! After a few days I started feeling better I just needed a nap in the afternoon more often. I did lose about 4lbs. during my first tri. but have gained about 11 lbs since then.
  • I got my energy back maybe around week 14-15. It was like "woah!" and I had sooo much energy! It was fantastic. That was the main thing for me bc I wasn't sick during 1st tri. Oh but my mornings in 1st were slow...I got really dizzy and light-headed every morning and that has stopped too. And My appitite also picked up. All is still well now although I am starting to lose some of that awesome energy.

Honestly I will go as far as to say 2nd tri has made this pregnancy enjoyable...yes I'm thoroughly enjoying it! Talk to me in 10 weeks though maybe that will change haha. Good luck!

  • this is the best i've felt so far. no more sour stomach, no more extreme exhaustion. sure i'm still tired by the end of the day, but nothing like before. i do still have the super sensitive sense of smell so the littlest thing can set me off to the gagging but that's it. some days i forget i'm pregnant!
