Uggh...Gabe is making himself throw up

He did this awhile ago, stopped, and is doing it with full force again. He did it on the floor (he stuck his hand down his throat) and vomited all over.

By the end of the month he will be seeing 4 therapists NOT INCLUDING the ones at the preschool he is attending for kids on the spectrum.

Is this just a sensory thing???

It is just so strange how do you explain why he is doing this?

 Just a bit frustrated..

  • Ok, now no one is responding so Im thinking Gabe is really bizarre...uggh his behaviors just keep getting more extreme!

  • There usually isn't anyone here later in the evening.

Drake started this a while ago and it comes and goes.  I noticed that he does it a lot when he is getting a cold --- maybe because he feels the sinus drainage in the back of his throat -- not sure.

I'm sure it is a normal thing but you might want to bring it up to the therapists anyway.

  • I've never posted on here, but I thought I'd contribute.  I teach special needs preschool.  I had a student this year that would make himself puke.  He did it when he was mad about something or panicking.  It got worse as the year went on.  I don't have any advice though, sorry!  Good luck!
  • My DS used to do this, but really only in the car.  Luckily he usually only did it to the point where he gagged himself, but did vomit once or twice.    Cleaning a vomit covered car seat is NOT fun.  My guy did it for the reaction, without a doubt.  I tried to just ignore it and clean him up with no reaction and it went away on its own.  How are you handling it when he does this?
  • Thanks ladies. I have been ignoring this behavior, but he continues to do it. He did it today and threw up all over the stairs. I will have to bring it up at the therapists next week.

  • My older son used to do this, if it makes you feel better. Honestly, I think he just wanted to see what would happen. And after doing it a few times, he liked the attention.
