numb hands?

Is anyone having problems with their hands and arms going numb at night while sleeping? It is happening to me several times a night and is so uncomfortable it wakes me up...is this normal or should i call my OB?

Re: numb hands?

  • yep, me too, but I think it's from the way I'm laying with my snoogle. it's really awkward when I have to get up and go pee, and I can't wipe because my hand is still numb LOL

  • Sounds like it might be pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel or similar.
  • I do too.  My feet also.  When this happened when I was pregnant with DS my OB told me to use a wrist brace.  I tried this time around but was more uncomfortable with the brace than the numb feeling.  She told me that it is from swelling that is compressing on the nerves.
  • Ok, thank you ladies. I can stop?obsessing?now!?

  • its normal. I've waken up with complete numb hands and arms. Its just all the extra blood in your system from the pregnancy.

This!  It happens to me whenever I sleep on my side too!  :)

  • Just wanted to add that I had this with my 1st pregnancy (carpal tunnel b/c of the pg) and I got a wrist brace to use at night and during the day when it hurt and it did help a lot.  You can get one at CVS or Target or someplace similar.  They aren't too expensive and really did help.
