My mom's out of surgery

She was in recovery until about noon and is spending the night at the H. ? ?They did determine it was cancer and did the full mastectomy. ?She is consulting with the oncologist tomorrow morning, but it looks like no chemo or radiation. ? They are going to try a hormone therapy with her.?

On the downside, there are some more concerns about her dementia. ?We are going to talk in the next few weeks about whether or not she can continue to live on her own. ? :(?

  • I am glad to hear that things are at least on the right track. keep us posted about the dementia....nestie prayers for a speedy recovery in all regards.
  • I am glad to hear the surgery went well and they are positive about the cancer.  i hope everything else goes ok.  keep us posted.
  • Oh Michelle, how bittersweet!  I hope that the oncologist visit continues on the positive path!  I'm sorry to hear about the dementia.  It just seems like she can't catch a break?!?!?  I'm thinking of you girl, stay strong!
  • Oops-- don't know how that happened.  Anyway, I wanted to say that I am so sorry about the dementia and that it does not look like things are over despite the good news that she won't need chemo.  I hope things continue to look good as far as the cancer, and I am hoping that her health continues to improve in all aspects.
  • I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well. I will continue to keep you and your Mom in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that the worsening of her dementia is temporary and she will improve as she recovers from the surgery.

  • Thinking of you and your family Michelle!  I'm so glad the surgery was by all accounts, a success although I'm so sorry that her dementia seems to be getting worse.  Please let me know if you need anything.

So glad that she's out of surgury.  Hope she has a speedy recovery.  I'm thinking of you and your family.  Big Hugs.
  • Oh crap on the dementia...but then again, maybe its a blessing that she will be forced to be in some kind of professional care.Good news about no chemo though......

FWIW, we put my dad in assisted living and it was the absolute best thing we could have done for him.  While he wasn't thrilled with the idea and it did take some time to get him there.....he could not have been happier the last 3 years of his life.  Hoping this isn't depressing....but maybe its a good thing.

You and your family are in my prayers!
