Re: These and the terms that make me want to smack someone

  • Hahaha. Me too.

I have a 19 year old and an 11 year old brother who like to play, "If you're not preggo raise your hand!"

  • Just prego, pregy and preggers.

I also cringe when I hear couples say "we're pregnant." *We* are not pregnant...*I* am pregnant. *We* are having a baby.

  • I also hate preggo and preggy.  They drive me nuts, but I just ignore them.  I actually had a surprise baby (yes, birth control same time every single day, no antibiotics and exclusively BFing) so that term only bothers me when someone who wasn't doing anything to prevent pregnancy uses it.  Accident bothers me a lot though.  I don't consider a baby an accident, even if it was unplanned.

Preggy want a pickle is just plain stupid.  I admit, I LOVE pickles (but I love them not pregnant as well) but it's a little out of line.

Oh, and this isn't related to pregnancy, but I hate the term AF.  We're all adults.  It's a period or menstruation.

I don't mind the "we're pregnant" phrase at all.  DH and I are guilty of using that phrase.  My thinking is just because he can't carry the baby and isn't going through the things I am doesn't mean he's not going through other things, or being made to run all over for cravings, or rubbing feet, or holding my hair while I puke, or whatever.  He helped make the baby, he just can't physically carry the baby, so I'm not at all bothered by it.

  • Every time I hear "preggo" or "preggers" I want to scream!  It is not cute and sounds like a high schooler phrase.  I have been guilty of using "we're pregnant" though.

  • Wow! *sympathy*
  • i think prego is funny because it actually makes sense like the sauce-"its in there", that one doesn't bother me. preggy is annoying.

I second all of this.  HATE "Preggo" and "Preggers".  Makes me cringe just to type it.

  • I also vote that we ban the terms "preggo" and "preggers".  I also hate "eating for two"--yes, I am nourishing a baby, but that doesn't mean I have turned in to a garbage disposal and can eat whatever I want all the time!  Sheesh!

::Just like Meg Ryan::  yes Yes YES YES YES!!!!!

I type preg, just because I don't want to type all the letters.  The cutesy nicknames I find ridiculous.

Although, I don't mind preggers when somebody with British (any Brit will do) says it... it's kinda like bugger or bollocks... American's just sound like idiots when they say things like that.

  • I heard someone use the phrase once "my eggo is preggo"!  This is so horrible.  Nearly the tackiest and worst thing I have EVER heard!

  • I hate when people throw out the old wives tales, especially when it comes to the sex of the baby. We don't know what we're having, so everyone feels compelled to tell me about old wives tales. I HATE HATE that!

Another thing that drives me nuts: people who are competitive.  I got pregnant the first time my DH and I had sex without using any protection. I have a friend who has not used any protection for 3 years and a few months after she learned that I'm pregnant, she got pregnant and told everyone that she got pregnant the first month that she tried, too. Um....when you don't use ANY contraception for 3 years then you happen to get pregnant a little after me, that's not the first try!  It drives me nuts! She's a very competitive person and you should never be competitive with pregnancies.

I agree! I'm the one with a baby in her belly, not him!

I have to say I agree about the accident one. Especially coming from Dh's cousin. First off, we've been together for 13 years and married for almost 5! Why the he!! would you think it was an accident.....don't you think we would have had an accident by now? And secondly, why would you even ask that on my Facebook page?!
