Pregnant after a Loss

Yeast infection from hell

My doctor told me to use an OTC brand, so I tried the one-day Ticonizole treatment Monday night.  3 days later, my symptoms are the worst I've ever experienced - itching, burning, d/c, ugh!  If you've been there, you know my pain!

Anyway, the package said it may take a few days to completely work. Should I give it more time or call the OB for something else?  I'd hate to double-up on treatment if it might just need a few more days.

Any advice?

Re: Yeast infection from hell

  • When I was pg with DS I had oral thrush and a yeast infection.  My OB said to use the 7 day treatment because it works better than the one or three day treatments.  I had to do two rounds of those for it to finally work, and I had the thrush on and off until after delivery.  My OB did do a culture though after the first treatment didn't work to find out what strand of yeast it was.  Maybe call and see if they could see you, or give you something stronger.

  • Call!  Yeast infections are the worst!

In the meantime, sit in the bathtub.  That really helps me when I get them bad.

  • Oh sweetie...I am so sorry. I had never known the horrible pain of yeast infections until I got pregnant and now I have had some nasty ones!!

Like pp said I heard that taking the 7 day treatment was best becuase yeast infections in pregnancy are really nasty and tend to linger. GL!

  • I have had yeast infections in the past but I have Bacterial VAginosis and that sucks!  It is so gross.  I would call and make sure you do not have that.
