We didn't have to book it with our hospital just showed up. Went at 6 weeks because I was thinking about switching to an Ob/Gyn at a hospital closer to home.
The hospital where I am giving birth won't be complete until October. They just finished the building and are scheduled to open October 1st. I guess I'll be doing my tour sometime in mid-October as long as things aren't too crazy!
Our hospital does not schedule them. You just call to see if they aren't too busy. I'm going to try to do mine Friday because I don't want to wait too much longer as walking already isn't fun!
I'm planning on scheduling mine for around 25-30 weeks. I tend to go early, and I want to make sure we know where we are going, etc. since I am delivering at a new hospital this time around.
We did a tour two nights ago. It wasn't too bad although I was pretty annoyed that one couple brought their fussy two year old along for the ride. It was hard to hear the tour leader when he was screaming that he wanted down and then have his father chase after him down the hallway, should have left him with a sitter IMO.
Anyway...The class was small, two women were due next month and one other was barely showing....so I guess I was right in the middle. They had a packet of info. sitting on the table for us, along with bottled water and cookies for everyone. I wasn't too impressed, I wish the hospital was a little nicer and didn't smell like a high school cafeteria. I think we're going to check out the Maternity Center which is across the street in a couple weeks.
Re: when are you doing hospital tour
we went last night. I would say I was the earliest one there - everyone else was closer to the end. One girl was having a c-section next week!
