Would you buy the bouncy seat too?

We registered for a swing and bouncy seat.  At work, I've used both and love both.  We received the swing at our shower, and I'm just looking at the list of things we still need to buy for LO, and I'm trying to keep costs down.  Would you mamas say that both are good to have at home?  Do you use both frequently?

  • I use both all the time. The bouncy seat is awesome for when I have to go pee, take a shower, etc. I like to be able to bring him with me when I'm showering. DS sleeps way better in the swing though

  • I would. DS slept in his the first week we had him home. We planned on having him in his crib, but he made so many snorty noises from a swollen nasal passage (he was a forceps delivery) that we couldn't leave him in there. He liked the incline of the bouncy seat.

My mom bought us ours from Once Upon a Child for something like $10. I would try to find a used one in case your LO doesn't like it.

  • I use both - DS hated the swing when he was a newborn but would sleep for hours in the bouncy.  Now that he is more active, he won't hang out forever in the bouncy, but it's good to have a quick place to put him down. I also use it when I'm pumping because he can see me and I can bounce him with my foot if he gets fussy.

  • both of my daughters hated their swings and love the bouncy seats.
  • Yes everyday.  You definitely want the bouncy seat.  I put him in it when I shower or do dishes.  It's a lifesaver.
  • We use the swing ALL THE TIME - the only time we use the bouncy seat is when DS fusses while we're eating, we'll put it on the table so he doesn't feel lonely.
  • We were in the opposite  situation, we got bouncy seat but not the swing and  then out swing was discontinued too. Thus far DS doesnt show much interest in the bouncy seat and we didnt get the swing. Although we decided that we would borrow our goddaughter's swing to see if he liked it before buying one if we needed something else to keep him occupied.

We do this too... and I use the swing while cooking

  • I would buy it, but maybe buy a less expensive one.  DD doesn't love the bouncey seat, but she will tolerate it long enough for me to take a shower, so it is worth it to me.  I think FP makes one in their Rainforest or Precious Planet collection that is only $39ish dollars and you could probably get a lesser known brand for somewhere in the $25 range.
  • OMG Lopo! Congratulations! I didn't know you were pg! So excited for you!!!! To answer your question, DD finally loves her swing but has always hated the bouncer. However when they are very little the bouncer is useful just to put them down!

LOL!  Hey MBF!  It's good to 'see' you!  It's been so long, right?!?!?!  Your LO is a adorable!

  • Instead of just a bouncy, I would get a newborn to toddler rocker/bouncer instead. Fisher Price makes one. My DS outgrew his bouncy and now I am ordering one of these because he needs somewhere to hang out.
