Hi Girls?I need help. DH and I have been TTC#1 since Aug 08. So far we know I have extremely low progesterone (like .7) and most likely not ovulating. We found out late last month DH has low count, low motility. He has an appt with a urologist on 7/20. My doc has done only hormone testing on me & I pretty much feel like she could care less. I just feel lost. I don?t know whether to call TX Fertility and find a new ob/gyn or just find a new ob/gyn. I?ll be 34 this month, so I?m really starting to worry about the age thing too. I have no clue what to do or where to turn.
What would ya?ll suggest? TIA.
Re: Trouble TTC
I'm so sorry. I know that can be so frustrating and feel so hopeless.
I was in a situation last year where I felt like my doc was not really "on my side" or doing enough proactively, so I switched docs (to Dr. Seeker with AAOBGYN) and LOVED my decision. His office, including all his nurses, are so much more attentive and proactive. I know that he has helped many ladies on this board who struggled with IF get pg.
I think most important is that you feel like you have people on your side who are willing to work with you to find your solution. Good luck to you!!
I am so sorry you are facing this.. I know it must be so tough.
I have to ditto rssn on this point:?
Seeker comes very highly rec'd on this board.. but whoever you choose to go with, I wish you the best!
And please stick around, the ladies on this board are amazing and many of them have been through TTTC and could probably offer wonderful advice and support. ?

I am going to ditto what everyone else has said about Seeker. He is a miracle worker and will be very honest with you if he feels that you need to proceed to TFC. Also, Seeker's office is amazing at working with your insurance provider to get them to cover as much as possible. For any meds that might not be covered they will send you to IVFmeds.com which is located in the UK and has much more affordable prices on meds than anywhere in the US. I am so sorry that you are in the shoes you are in but you are in the right place. The women on this board are amazing and are so supportive whether they have been in your shoes or not. Hugs.
What part of the month are you getting your progesterone tested? Do you chart? I'd call Texas Fertility Center and get an appointment, it usually takes a few months to get in. I never actually had to go(got ku'd 2 weeks before my appointment) but the people on the phone were nice and seemed very competent.
Also motility can be improved with vitamins but it takes 3 months to get new swimmers, so I'd start your DH on vitamins like today(there's a fertility blend out there called pro seed maybe, it's expensive, but you can look up the components and get them at Walgreens for a much better price) don't wait to see the urologist if you are worried about time

Ya'll are awesome! Made me tear up! Dang..not emotional one bit over here.
ebat - supposedly they tested after I ovulated. I have long cycles and they seem to be getting longer. They usually are 37-38 days, with a 60 day thrown in for good measure for the last cycle. I'm currently on day 41. I read TCOYF in April, so I started charting after that. My BBTs are erratic (up and down almost everyday). We have the appt scheduled for him on Monday 7/20 and we are definitely not backing out.
I'm chiming in a bit late but also recommend Dr. Seeker. He has been very patient and willing to try lots of different things at our pace/comfort level. We did eventually get pregnant (on IUI #10!) but lost the pregnancy at 9 wks due to what he suspects were chromosomal problems with the baby (not confirmed since the tissue was too degraded to culture out post D&C).
I feel like many other doctors would have done 3 to 6 IUIs and then told us IVF was our only hope. We may eventually end up doing IVF but want to give IUIs with injectable FSH at least 2 or 3 more tries. DH and I would really prefer to get pregnant without IVF (long story/personal reasons/but we will do IVF if we have to).
That being said, Dr. Seeker did recommend Dr. Vaughn once we reached our limit. We actually had an appointment set up, but found out about a week prior that I was pregnant so I cancelled. I'm considering making another appointment to discuss options and so that we will be able to more quickly move on to IVF if we get to that point.
So...where you go is your choice. You can certainly start at AAOBGYN. Dr. Seeker will be honest with you if he thinks you need more help than he can offer.
Good luck and hang in there.
I too go to Seeker and love him, you've alread heard all the raves about him. But one bit of advice I have for you is this: never give up and never settle. Seeker's great but he may not have ALL the answers, Dr. V is great but may not have ALL the answers. I would keep a written journal of what's going on w/ you and your DH, write in there also findings from doctors, and other things you come across from others in IF and I encourage you to talk to others experiencing it.
I have found word of mouth advice to be the MOST valuable not to mention amazing support. I now go to my doctors and ask them about some things surprisingly they haven't heard of some treatments and are actually open to trying them! The first advice I took was to see Seeker and I'm sooooo glad! As complicated as our reproductive systems are and as immature Western Medicine is in understanding physiology of it all, I think you are your best advocate of course teaming up with your supporters and doctors. Good luck and if you need anything let us know!
Just chiming in to jump on the Vaughn/Seeker bandwagon. I saw Vaughn first (TFC only knocks you up, they don't do deliveries). Then I transferred back to my OB/GYN, had some unhappy experiences, and switched to Dr. Seeker. If I were to have another child, I think Dr. Seeker would be able to help me without having to go back to TFC.
ETA: And when I made my appointment with TFC, they had a cancellation and I got in that week. I was PG within a couple weeks of that first visit. So sometimes it all goes quick.
Tried to set an appointment with Dr. Seeker. He's not available until November...WOW. I scheduled an appt to see his nurse practitioner on 7/22.
The NPs are good. And if he's in the building and they think you need to see him, they can pull him in. Or schedule you to come back for an earlier visit than November.
