I am 3 weeks pregnant and this is my first baby. I keep hearing about drinking lots of liquids but then others say only drink water or milk. Are there drinks I am suppose to avoid all together? Or should I only drink milk/water?
Some people say to limit caffeine to 200 mg or less and other people say to avoid caffeine altogether, so that is between you and your doctor. Avoiding it might not be a bad idea until your first Dr. Appt. but if you are a coffee-person, you'll be fine with just one cup per day. Anymore than that and, studies say, it can increase your risk of miscarriage.
Other than that, drink what you want, just make sure to stay hydrated and include lots of water.
I've pretty much only had water and apple juice. I have had ginger ale a few times because it's easire for me to take my prenatal vitamins with somethng bubbley - I also take tums for calcium and want the bubbles to get rid of the taste.
One thing I'm loving are Italian Sodas... mmm! Also, if you're a soda person, Root Beer and 7-Up have no caffeine. If you have M/S, try water with lemon slices.
You can pretty much drink anything non-alcoholic and caffiene free (a little caffiene every once in a while is okay). Water is obviously better than anything but you can have juice too.
Re: What can I drink?
You can drink lots of things. Some people stay away from soda/artificial sweeteners but other than that
Juice
Water
Milk
Lemondae
etc.
