Yesterday I had a client tell me it was much better to have a C-section than a vag birth b/c I would get an extra day in the hospital, I would get to scheduled when I want it and also the Dr. won't be tired. Ummmm... wow.

I wanted to slice him from hip to hip halfway through his body then tell him... but you have another day to recuperate in the hospital. You'll be fine.

    Who says the doctor won't be tired? My doctor had a five week old baby at home when he did my c-section. He checked me in the hospital at 6am and did my c-section at 10:30pm that night.

    BTW - You get sliced hip to hip for a tummy tuck. You only get sliced across the top of your pubic hair line for a c-section.

    I kind of agree with his other points though. Sorry. But then I agree with you as well. That dude is a tool.

    well it is true that you usually are in the hospital longer, but then you also have a worse recovery...

    I have had people tell me that too because I am due Christmas Eve.  I just tell them I want to try and do it the regular way first but I thanks for the advice.  I know people do both this is just what I am choosing.  Yes, I know more than likely I will not have my doctor if I go into labor Christmas Eve and that is the risk I am taking.

    Our bodies are built for vaginal deliveries....for the most part...does that person know what a Csection goes through AFTER the hospital stay??! I'd take a vag birth over a csection any day to not have to go through what my sister and friends have had from their C's.

    People and their missing brain-mouth filters....

    I was shocked until i read "HIM" =what the heck does he know? tell him to speak to you when he get's cut opened.

    I'd rather have one less day in the hospital than an abdominal incision that takes weeks to heal.

    Of course it was a man that said it, too!  I think it's funny that one of his reasons is that the doctor won't be tired.  People say the weirdest things.

    FWIW, I had to have an unscheduled c-section with DD and am going to try a VBAC with this baby.  Although that extra day in the hospital is tempting...(kidding)

    Never mind that the reason you get the extra day in the hospital is because your recovery is harder!  I'm not looking forward to c-section #2.

    What - he didn't also mention the extra 2 weeks of pd STD you get for having a c rather than a vaginal delivery?  He'd better brush up on that!  ;-)

     

    (at least that's how it works where I work - I know not all places are the same)

    Obviously, this man doesn't know much about proper labor and delivery. A C-Section should only "technically" be preformed if there is a risk with vag delivery. It's unfortunate so many people are opting for sceduled C-Sections for mom's convinence.
