So I had my glucose test yesterday. I have a 2.5 year old who I don't leave with others a lot but I got a babysitter.
Anyway my appt was 9:15 and I got there 9:10. I asked the receptionist if I needed to wait or if I should take the drink right away. She gave me a dumb look and I explained the whole thing and she said I should wait to be called.
10 am rolls around and I was so angry - I basically storm up to the desk and ask what is going on and how long it's going to be (I was ready to walk). The girl at the front desk (really young and acted like an idiot) asked me again what I was there for and she would see what was going on.
So the nurse comes out and is
like, "oh, I just had you down for bloodwork" and gets me the drink so
I can begin my hour wait. I seriously was angry. I don't really care
whose fault it was or even if I was there for "just bloodwork", it does
not take 50 minutes. The worst part was that I hadn't eaten when I
normally eat first thing in the morning, so I was thirsty and starting
to really feel awful.

I too worked the front desk (years ago) before becoming an Administrator and I agree with the comment that some physician offices simply hire anyone to man that post; it is the most important job in my opinion because they dictate clinic flow. I did not mean to sound rude but I just dealt with this Tuesday at my dental office and my cup truly has rtruly un over.
