So, I think I'm finally ready to buy grown up make up (yeah, I know I'm a little late). I've been thinking about going to Ulta and asking them to give me a consult or the Clinique counter. What are your thoughts? Which brand should I try? I'm thinking BareMinerals, Clinique, Mac??

Re: Make Up...what do you use?
bare minerals! my fav part: you can fall asleep with it on when you are feeling lazy and not worry about your face freaking out.
so nice.
I like Jane Airedale, Aveda, and MAC makeup. Jane Airedale and Aveda have been really good on my sensitive skin because they're made so naturally. MAC has great eye shadows, lip glosses, and mascara.
You can't beat Chanel either.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I used to use only BareMinerals. But it got expensive at $25 for a foundation. I need a little extra coverage to cover acne scars, so I was going through them pretty quickly.
A few months ago I discovered Everyday Minerals, and I am SO glad I did. It's much cheaper than BareMinerals, and the coverage and finish are so much better (they offer 4 different formulations). They even give you really generous samples for free (you just pay $3 for shipping).
I use MAC, Benefit, and Urban Decay. My fav is MAC; I like their recycling program and their lipglosses are great! Good luck :-)
I used to like MAC a lot, but my dermatologist said MAC is a no-no for acne-prone skin.

Seriously? I use MAC and love it... but that would certainly explain (other than being off BCP) why my face keeps breaking out. Hmmmmm....
That's what my dermatologist told me. I really like MAC, but I only use their lip glosses and eye shadows now (no foundation or powder). She said it will clog my pores.
I'm also a BareMinerals only girl. I love that it feels like I'm not wearing a lot of make up.
I grew up using Clinique since it was what my mom always used. I really liked their products as well.

me too! i dont think i'll ever wear anything else!
I've stayed away from Clinique ever since I heard they use lye in their products. Just skeeved me out.
Best mascara ever - Diorshow blackout
Foundations - Bare Minerals, smashbox, Shiseido hydro-liquid compact and Dior are great. Depends what kind of coverage you'd like (dior and smashbox are heavier)
Blush - Bare Minerals - if you buy one it will last a lifetime. No kidding.
Lip glosses - Mac, Buxom lips (bare escentuals), Chanel
Eyeliner - Liquid - Lancome artliner. Pencil - Mac kohl.
Eyeshadows - Mac, Bare Minerals, and Dior (pricey but excellent pigment)
Can you tell I'm a makeup whore? I could keep going...
I didn't read all responses so bare with me if this has already been said.
I tried Bare Minerals but didn't like it because I felt that as soon as I got a little oily or sweaty, it started "melting" and just looked weird. I've heard Sheer Cover is "sweatproof," but haven't tried it so I don't know if it is.
I like Bobbi Brown the best. I feel like her foundation and powder shades suit my skin better than Clinique. Bobbi Brown gives her makeup more of yellow tint because it counterbalances the pink in your skin, whereas Clinique has a bit more of a pink tint which just doesn't look good on me.
I will say that for mascara I just use Cover Girl. I've always heard make-up artists say you do not need to spend a lot of money on that.
I LOVE my Chanel stuff! It is so nice and lasts all day.
I started using it after my wedding makeup was done with it.
I love my Clinique lipgloss and mascara, and the eyeshadow and base stays on ALL day. And their skin care products are great.
I like their foundation, but I don't 'love' it.
I also love Clinique because I wait for their giveaways, when you buy $25 and get all kinds of free little goodies to try. Last week, Macy's didn't have the sale but Lord & Taylor did. Yay!
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

i use bobbi brown for bronzer and eye products but for blush i use nars compact powder, bobbi brown cream stick, or maybelline mineral loose powder [also, this bronzer is amazing and i've tried every kind i can think of].
i use only kiehl's original lip balm on my lips. been using most of it since middle school and it works great for me.
oh also, this is the best mascara ever and this is the best eyeliner.
