2nd Trimester

US Question

I had an US around 12 weeks and the US tech said she wasn't going to officially say it, but she thought it was a boy. I received lots of info that boy and girl parts look alike that early. I'm having another US tomorrow. I was wondering if it'll be a little more conclusive? I really don't care either way, I'm just curious.

I'm mostly excited I get to see the baby! I hope he (or she!! LOL) is sucking his little thumb. What a cute picture that would make hehehehe

Re: US Question

  • I didn't think that they could tell that early, I thought the absolute earliest was 15weeks,  But I could be totally wrong.  If the tech guessed than she's going to know best though.

Why do you have so many u/s?  I hope everything is o.k.

  • I had one done at 12.2 and she was 90% positive it was a boy. althought the look similar it's not identical. Boys will point horizontal and girls are all vertical. Low and behold when I had the same tech scan me at like 17.1 it was so darn easy to tell it's a little boy and he's all about showing it off.

  • It may be possible, but I had one done at 16w and the tech could not tell, but then my big one at 18w they could tell it was a boy, so each tech is different. GL

I had so many at the beginning because I had a m/c history and then it was twins, and they were monitoring them. Everything is fine now :) Thank you! The last US at 12 weeks was the NT scan at the Dr. This one tomorrow a friend is doing... I work in Radiology... (ducking my head...)

  • Thanks y'all! We'll see! If not, it's fine... I know it's still early. I was just curious. My anatomy scan is in little over a month, so I can wait hahaha (like I have much choice...)

  • I thought that they couldn't confirm boy or girl until 16 weeks, but don't quote me on that.
  • I was able to tell with DD at 17 weeks. Patiently waiting now even though the tech said she thought at 12 weeks it was a boy, but then she recanted and said it was too early. I didn't believe what she said and wanted to wait until I am further along.
