Baby Showers

baby shower game prizes

I'm at a lost. I don't know what to do for gifts when a person wins a game. I thought about gift cards (no more than 20/25 dollars). I thought about putting together little baskets. Then I thought about making a necklace or bracelet or handing out favors with something extra special in them (though I couldn't tell you what the e.s.s would be lol)

Any idea on what I should do?

  • You can get little things at Michaels (or any other craft store) in the $1 bins. They have shopping list notebooks, little soaps wrapped in nice paper and stuff like that.  Then you could get chocolates or candy (people love food) and/or one of those $5 beauty bags and mix and match different things.

  • Target also has those bargain bins when you walk in, They have little bitty boxes of chocolate, body washes, kitchen towels and tools. That is where I always go when I am looking to put together something like this.

I have a couple great shower hosts and I begged for no or only 1 or two QUICK games. I am letting them figure that part out. I did have no troubles putting together hostess gifts for them. I spent about $15 each. I shopped clearance online at bath and body works and a pair of cozy terry flip flop slippers from Old Navy. Hey bath and body has some great things...cheap on clearance. There is another idea for you. Good luck!

  • I got some Bath and Body Works stuff when they were having a big sale.  $3-4 for each bottle, mostly the antibacterial hand soap.
  • ditto pp. i plan on getting dollar items from michael's, target, and dollar tree and putting them in bags. basically, each win will be no more than $5.  it adds up FAST if you start doing $20 gift cards, which is very generous and nice, but i really dont think necessary at a baby shower.

I did this also...actually made a run last night.  They have a bunch of their WallFlower Room Scent Sets on Clearance right now for $4.00 each, regular price is $12.50.  I was at a baby shower a few weeks back, and ladies were fighting over this stuff!

  • Since our shower is coed my host did $5 gift cards to places like Jamba Juice, Star bucks etc you get the idea!! There will be two winners per game, one male, one female!!

this is EXACTLY what we are doing...putting about $5 worth of stuff in different color gift bags. We're also doing a diaper raffle with (2) giftcard prizes of $25 each...kind of a bigger prize for bringing something extra.

  • At the last shower I threw I did gift cards too.  I threw a coed shower and we had multiple games with multiple winners so I grabbed a few $5 cards from Subway, Starbucks, and Dairy Queen and everyone loved competing for the most cards - it was really funny.  And it got the guys involved too - they were no longer just trying to win the games but they were competing for the most gift cards.

  • How about body lotions, soaps, ect.. My MIL hit the jack pot at Bath and Body Works last week.  apparently they are changing the packaging of the products, so everything is cheap to clear out the old stock.

  • When I hosted my SIL's shower, I bought five or six bags of decent chocolate, and a pack of gift bags from odd lots.  Cause, frankly, who doesn't like truffles?

    I think I spent maybe $30-40 total on 10 gift bags/prizes.

  • OMG you all are life savers. I will be doing a run to target just before the shower because I wanted to play The Price Is Right baby style. It would be nice if I had more things already, but my mother refuses to let me buy anything until after the showers lol. So I hopefully I can shake together nice little bags. OMG thank you guys lolBig Smile
  • I've gotten Target Gift Cards ($10), Starbucks cards ($5), Gas cards ($15 - loved it!), and lottery tickets (I won $50!).  I liked them all much better than I would a bracelet or necklace or any little soap/body lotion things.  You don't know everyone's tastes or allergies.  At least with most of the things I mentioned (aside from possibly coffee) anyone could/would use them.
  • These are all good suggestions. Think "stocking stuffers"
