Talk to me about potty's and potty seats!

DD has been showing interested in the potty (wanting to sit on it, etc.). I've decided it's time to get a potty seat just in case she stays interested. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations about what kind of seat has worked best for them. A separate potty? A cushioned seat to go on the regular potty? Or a family seat - something like this:

I like the idea of not having an extra seat laying around or having a separate potty to clean out. Has anyone tried this type? Or had luck with one of the others? TIA!!

  • I don't have any recs. We're not there yet,but I really like this idea. The thought of the separate potty kind of grosses me out. I can wipe a butt, just not clean that thing out. I think I might be a bad mommy.

  • I got this one but I don't know if it's good or not. I just started sitting DS on it to get him used to the idea. He has yet to poop or pee in it!?

  • I got one of the rings you put on the regular toilet.  My niece was potty trained on a little potty and was terrified of the regular toilet for the longest time.  It made public outings very difficult.  DD likes to sit on it and has pooped once, but I am pretty sure that was just a fluke!

OMG - that's the cutest thing ever!  I just wonder if my DS would think it were a toy?  That could least to a disasterous mess :-)

  • I bought the green frog potty and brought it into his play area to have him just practice sitting on it. He then thought it was just another chair to climb on, stand on, etc. He doesn't get it. He takes the inner container out or puts his toys in it. I think PT is going to be a pain because he just doesn't sit still. I need to do some reasearch on the whole thing but plan on starting when he's two. I'm tempted to just get a seat to put around the big potty since thats where he's going to go eventually anyway, I hate to confuse him and then train him all over again on using the big one later. Plus they don't have kiddie potties in public restrooms or friends homes.
