Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Total Sleep per day?

How much sleep should my one year old get in 24hrs? ?I'm trying to figure out if I need to adjust her bedtime. ?Schedule:

600 Wake up

drop off at daycare?

1/2-1hr nap in am

?1-2hr nap in pm

430-500 pick up from daycare

530-630/7 nap AGAIN

dinner/bath?

730/800 bedtime.

?Sleep range 12-15hrs a day?

Something tells me that 12 is not enough...?

Re: Total Sleep per day?

  • Can you somehow drop the 3rd nap?  At 12 months, DS was going to bed anywhere between 6:30 and 7, waking up about 12 hours later.

  • At that age, DS was probably sleeping 14-15 hours a day. I agree with pp--drop the third nap. I think we were doing a nap around 2:30 or 3 PM at that age with bedtime between 6:30 and 7 PM.?

  • DD has been on this "schedule" since she was about 11 months:

night is about 11 hours (occasionally 11.5-12)

1 nap after lunch about 2.5 hours.

Total about 13-14 hours of sleep a day.

  • My DD sleeps anywhere from 14-16 hours in a day, depending on how long her naps last.  She typically wakes up about 7:30/8, takes a nap around 10am, takes a second nap around 3pm and goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 (I put her in her crib at 7:30 but she might play for a bit).

You may want to drop the 3rd nap as others have suggested and just put her to bed a bit earlier.
