When is too late to mow the lawn?

A neighbor across the street just fired up his lawnmower and it's going on 9 p.m. here....I'm thinking maybe 8 p.m.? Even 8:30 p.m.? This just seems a bit late to me....the kids are trying to sleep and we keep their windows open because we don't have central air....

Is he mowing the lawn in the dark? Sound dangerous, as well as annoying to sleeping children.

I have the opposite problem. Our neighbor's lawn services shows up at 6:45am -UGH

  • I would say 8pm because of kids. My kids go to bed at 7ish, but I still say 8.
  • I'm thinking that even 8 is pushing it.  So, yeah, that's too late!
  • I was going to say anytime after 9pm is probably too late.  Some people don't get home until 6 or 7, then have to eat dinner, and if they have to mow it's a lot to squeeze in.

  • I think 9 is too late; but I'm also thinking back to my days where mh and I were living seperately due to moving and I had to do everything after ds went to bed. I got home at 6:30, ate dinner, bath and bed at 8; mowing or snowblowing had to be done late. Maybe they have some extenuating circumstances.

  • There is a noice ordinance here about power tools and it is something like between 11 and 7, though for commercial operations, it is 7 to 7.
