Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Eat sleep, eat sleep, repeat

Sorry to ask a newborn related question.

Am I right to assume this is a normal newborn thing? LO eats constantly all day and all night long, sleeping briefly (and pooping) between feedings. I just keep feeding on demand and let him sleep when he sleeps.

Re: Eat sleep, eat sleep, repeat

  • Yup, totally normal.  DS didn't start to have long "awake and alert" periods until he was like 4 or 6 weeks old.

    Congrats on your LO! :)

  • As far as I can tell, this is normal. Ada has had more awake time in the past week though - she is still just my little blob but it's fun to watch her!

  • Yep that is the routine for quite a while.  The night stuff gets better too, I promise.  It only lasts about 6 weeks or so.

    Thank, ladies!

I can so relate to this. DH and I are shocked when DS opens his eyes.

  • Yep. DD didn't start staying awake more until 3 weeks. Enjoy it and take naps!
  • oh yes, DD did this ALL the time. i felt as if she was going to be a permanent attachment to my boobs...the first 2 weeks are the absolute hardest and then suddenly, its like second nature and your LO will be more alert and playful and getting their personality acclimated etc
