TTC After a Loss

anyone here ever have an ovarian cyst?

My gyne's external exam made my left ovary area hurt, and she suggested I have an u/s to see if there's a cyst.

Did it hurt you or cause trouble?  If you had pain, what did you take?  Did it go away on its own, or did it burst, or did you need it removed?  Thanks.

  • They usually go down on their own, but how long it takes depends on how big it is.

  • I had one and it hurt like hell, there were times I couldn't move, the doc gave me this medicine that help to shrink it off, the side effects of the medicine was a little harsh, but at least I could move again and didn't have to have surgery. Good luck!
  • I had mine when i was pregnant, it was discovered at an u/s around 6 weeks.  It was small and didn't cause me any pain.  The dr said they're pretty common but if it gets bigger and/or causes me any pain, it would probably have to be removed.  It went away on it's own though.

  • I have had three now, one when I was pregnant.  Sometimes they are painful, but so far mine have always gone away on their own after a cycle or two.

  • I had one when I was 19 and had to have it removed surgically.  It was the size of a small grapefruit.  There were times I would be doubled over in pain and no amount of pain relievers would help.

I've had more since then but they go away on their own, thankfully!

I had a cyst rupture 2 years ago. Probably the worst pain I have ever had. It comes on quick and feels like you've been stabbed. The pain is usually intense in one side, but radiates. I started crying almost immediately and I am one who can tolerate a lot of pain. It's definitely not a menstrual cramp feeling, much different. I went to the ER so that took forever and by the time all of my waiting and testing was done (u/s, blood labs, pelvic exam) the pain had subsided.

In memory of precious Julia, sweet baby James, and now Timmy who fought so hard.

  • I have one and can be pretty painful at times.

Mine is a durmoid, which I don't believe will go away on their own.  Some do though, so it really depends on the type.  It depends on how big it is and where its at if they'll do anything about it.

  • I get cysts.  I had a large natural one three cycles ago, so my doctor put me on birth control.  It was gone by my next cycle.

I currently have a large clomid cyst left from last cycle, and am taking an r/x for 12 days to try to shrink it.  Sometimes they hurt, especially if something bumps that area.  For pain, I take tylenol or advil and occasionally use a hot water bottle.

  • I had a 2.5 inch cyst and it killed.  My old Dr put me on BC for a cycle and it went away.
