Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } For those of you new to this post, we are trying to get a group of moms from Minnesota together to form a type of "support group" simply for the sake of getting together and supporting each other. Whether this is your first baby or you're adding to your family, we could all use a little feminine support from other moms! (And who wouldn't want a play-date buddy for their little one?)
To answer from questions from the original post: We are not opposed to any L.O.'s being there or whether you're from 1st, 2nd, or 3rd tri! We originally thought it would be good to stick with only those around our own EDDs, but decided that that wouldn't be too productive. You can always learn something from others, right? The more the merrier!
First things first in getting together: Where would everyone like to meet? Would a location like, Lake Calhoun or Lake Harriet be central to most people? Maybe we can have a picnic/potluck-type get together? Or maybe something a little more low-key, like, a library? Please give ideas for a place to meet that is somewhat central to the Twin Cities.
I'd love for this to be a collaborative effort among us all, so please don't hesitate to bring those great ideas here! (I'll do my best to check this board often! Otherwise, I can be found roaming the 2nd and 3rd tri boards.) Also, if you'd like to email me personally, feel free to reach me at: kissokiwi@yahoo.com.
Thanks, ladies! I hope this all works out. Please post to this and let me know if you're still interested, so I have an idea of how many people want to take part!
Oh! And I should probably introduce myself a bit! My name is Jessie, I'm 26, and this is my first baby with my husband, Dan. I live in North Minneapolis (a nicer pocket), near Brooklyn Center. I am a therapist and currently working with adult male sexual offenders in a day treatment setting. Um, anything else you'd like to know, don't hesitate to ask! Who are you? :-)
Re: MN Moms GTG: Update!
TOTALLY INTERESTED!!!
I'm Lena, 28 years old. My DH and I just moved here from CA and literally got pregnant within 24 hours of getting here. So needless to say, I could use some female companionship! We are currently renting a house in Champlin and are hoping to buy sometime in the next year or so. Right now I'm a SAHW... was going to get a job (and accept the one offered to me) but then we found out we were having a baby, and our plans changed.
I think getting together would be great. I'm pretty much open to anywhere in the metro area.
I love the idea of a gtg, I don't know any other moms my age group except for co-workers. So would love to get to know more people.
I am good for any setting. I don't really have ideas, I am mostly familiar with the southern suburbs.

You can always come after! It likely wont be until August... But we'll see! Either way, we'd hope you join in on future meetings!
Hi my name is Laura, I'm 30 and this is my first pregnancy and first baby with my husband. I live in SE MN and I work as a clinical laboratory technician. I would love to be in a support group of MN moms! I'm ~2 hours south of the cities so I'm game for meeting anywhere (public) in the Twin Cities area.
adamswife: My AE is biogrrll FYI
Jessie: YGM
Wow! Good luck with L&D!!!
my name is dionne-34-35 in Sept, this is our second and last child. i have a little girl who is 2.5. my dh, dd and i live in the chisago lakes area, but depending on when a gtg was planned we may be up for a drive into the cities. i work part-time during the school year for our local school district. Jessie-I use to work with adolescent male sex offenders-hee hee i don't envy you!
If you search Meet-Up there are a few local mom's groups in the cities up and running. We have one in the Chisago Lakes/Forest Lake/North Branch area that is on Meet-Up and we just schedule events and who ever shows up shows up.
with that said-if you ever have questions for a "seasoned" mom-or as my dr. says "an advanced maternal aged" mom let me know. raising a toddler and being pg is very interesting!!!!
I would love to meet up with others. My name is Patti & I am 26 our little man is 2 months old. We live in Eden Prairie but would be willing to meet anywhere around the twin city area.
I'm in. My husband and I live in Eden Prairie - and anywhere is fine. I think an outdoors picnic/BBQ would be the easiest and funnest!
I'm 24 and this will be our first child, due January 14th. My husband and I got married last November.
That sounds like fun! I'm not very familiar with Mpls or the southern suburbs, but that's what GoogleMaps is for, right? : )
I'm Angie, 29, married for two years and live on the East Side of St. Paul. We have one daughter, Elizabeth, and she's 3 months old.
I'm really up for anything. In St. Paul, August 7-9, DH and I were planning on going to the Irish Fair. It's free admission and a pretty fun time, if anyone was interested. Otherwise a BBQ/Picnic works for me!
I'm interested! I'm 32 years old and pregnant with my first baby with DH, Alan. We got married in Mexico last November.
I think we would have a few things in common as I too have worked with sexual offenders.....I live in the southern suburbs so Lake Harriet area would work great for me. I'm game for the potluck/picnic idea.....who doesn't love food!?!?
Look forward to meeting all you ladies!
Nope! Not limited to just pregnant ladies! Bring the little ones!
We are hoping to plan more than one, so if you miss this one, hopefully you'll catch the next! Again, I would love for this to be a collaborative thing, so maybe someone else can plan the next one? :-)
Then I am interested too.?
I am soon to be 24, married for 2 years (on the 14th!) and our little guy just turned 1 on the 4th of July. We live in Blaine. I work part time (well about 15 hrs) at a swim school and then stay home with my son.

Hi! My name is Kate. I live in the western suburbs (where New Hope, Golden Valley, and Crystal run into each other-- I think my house IS the place where the three meet). I'm 23 (DH is turning 39 this year-- you'll have to ask about the age difference at the GTG; it's an interesting story), we're coming up on our 4th anniversary in about a month, and this is our first successful pregnancy. My primary job at the moment seems to be lying on the couch and moaning about m/s, but the rest of the time I do educational programming at the Bell Museum of Natural History.
I saw that somebody mentioned Lake Harriet as a meeting place, and I second that.
