What to do about fear?

My DD was playing outside yesterday and was bit by a mosquito.  Ever since, if anything touches her she screams, cries, and yells "bee".  Last night she screamed every hour!  The only thing that could calm her was me rocking her (she has been STTN since she was 4mo).  I need advice on what to do!  tia.

Re: What to do about fear?

  • Sounds like a learned fear......Did you mean she was bit/stung by a bee?  DD gets mosquito bites too, esp now but she doesnt even feel them, like you or I probably wouldnt either....I guess Im a little confused....  Maybe get her some toy bugs so shes not scared.... but honestly Id do the same thing if I saw a bee LOL

  • She was stung by a mosquito but because of her age she can't say mosquito.

  • No experience with this... but... do you have fireflies right now?  If you do, can you run around and make a game of catching the "bees"/fireflies and playing with them?

    Drawing pretty pictures of bees?

Getting a squirt bottle of water and letting her squirt the "bee be gone" throughout her room before she goes to bed.

And... your DD is ADORABLE!  I could squeeze her!
