Grandma called to see if we had changed his name yet

Is that her nice way of saying she doesn't like the name? What an odd question. Nope, its still the same!

Re: Grandma called to see if we had changed his name yet

  • My Grandma told me that she didn't like Grace because everyone is using it. I flat out told her I didn't care and we were using it.. lol...

  • My MIL has already decided that she will call our son Joshua (not the name be picked) regardless of what we name him. She calls DH and asks how "Joshua" is doing!

  • lol!

    fwiw, I like his name!

  • Grandma's are seriously weird. Mine said she'll never be able to pronounce LO's name correctly (it's Rory).
  • With our first baby, my mom didn't like the name so she insisted on calling her Anna months before she was born. I actually had to yell at her and tell her that we chose the name and she would have to live with it. Ah, relatives. :(
  • FWIW I LOVE Dominick.

If my cousin wouldn't have just named his son that I would have used it!

  • This is why we aren't sharing the name until our DS is born.  I figure it's harder for people to tell me they don't like the name if it's actually attached to the new baby already.

    That's insane.

  • People are strange......I'd just mark it up to Grandma being a bit crazy!  We nicknamed our LO Jellybean.  My Grandma really thinks that's going to be his/her name.  But she's like 84.....so what can you expect.  Grandma's are funny like that.  When we told her the real name we were thinking of, she just said "Oh".
  • My hubby's grandma has called him Jake all his life, he's 33 and named Ryan. But she still calls him Jake, apparently that's what she wanted him to be named, lol.
  • Maybe she is getting his name put on something and doesn't want it to be wrong?

LOL My grandma doesn't like our boy's name, either (Henry) so she keeps mailing me lists of names she's thought of, just in case we change our minds. And let me tell you, there are some AWFUL names on her lists!! They're amusing, though. :)

OMG!  She sounds like a real GEM!  Tell her you are going to have your DC call her by some obnoxious name, regardless of what she prefers!

  • Haha. There's a big controversy with "Grandma" (My MIL) because we are naming our baby James (after FIL) and we don't want him to be called Jim or Jimmy. She claims James is too formal and that we shouldn't dictate what people should or should not call him. Umm ok lady, he's our kid!!
