Difference between whining and tantrum?

To me they are both annoying but I don't really know the difference...does whining include crying or is it just the annoying noise and sound in their voice?

Re: Difference between whining and tantrum?

  • DD whining "I waaaaaannnnnt to goooooo to the paaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrk"

DD tantrum "NO! I don't WANT to MOMMY, I'm MAD!!" and stomping off in a huff.

DS whining is just crying at this point.

DS tantrums - throws self violently onto the floor, writhes, screams as if in pain, arches back, kicks, hits.....  but he's cute! Tongue Tied

BWAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHA~!!!!!  Have you been in my house?  Except DS's tantrums include a combo of your DD's and DS's - fun times.

  • Whining= fake crying (no tears), overly dramatic

Tantrum= demanding, "I want popcicle NOW!", throwing self on floor, screaming

If you have to ask the difference you haven't experienced a tantrum.  Count yourself lucky.  And tell me your secret.

  • For DD, whining is just the voice. The tone, even if she's asking for something, a normal question, it can come out in a whine. A tantrum involves being p*ssed off & angry about something.
