We have tried lots of things (rice, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, applesauce). Still unsure of how much to be feeding them (I am making my own food). Like 2 ounces? more/less? I sometimes mix food together also, like oatmeal and applesauce, so how much of each? I am scared of over feeding them. Not to the point that they would throw up I mean, but like making them fat. (Yeah, I know how dumb that sounds!)
I feed them a bottle afterwards, so should it be a full bottle or a little less since they ate solids? What time of day do you feed them? I have been doing a feeding before their second bottle, about 10am and getting in another feeding at dinner time, like 4-6pm. So confused about something that should come more natural, I mean it's not rocket science!
Re: Solids for 6 month olds?
At six months solids should NOT replace formula/milk. If they will take a full bottle after their solids then let them. They will also let you know when they are finished eating their solids. They will lock their mouth, spit it out (spray), dribble big bites out, etc.
We feed ours a fruit in the morning (between 1st two bottles) and a veggie with cereal about an hour before the bedtime bottle. Mine are older but we didn't start solids until 6m1w.
