My SIL owe's us big time for babysitting. I'm to the point where I feel like they are taking advantage of us. We watch their two kids (2 1/2 and 1 year old) ALL THE TIME -- overnight and always on the weekends. And it's always last minute ... even if it's for a wedding we'll get a call the week of. I want to teach them a lesson and say no but my H already agreed to watch them tonight ... on our three year anniversary. We aren't celebrating until this weekend, but I at least wanted to relax with my hubby and watch our wedding video.
BTW, they once made a comment that it's their goal to never had a "stranger" watch their kids or pay for babysitting. Tonight is the first time they have ever offered to pick up dinner (pizza.) Seriously!
Do you have IL's who take advantage of you?
Re: babysitting payback!
Ew!
Well, you can do the same when you have your LO
In my bag: Canon 60D, 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75 2.8, 430exii
My SIL has a 3 yo boy and 2 yo girl. I feel like we don't watch her kids all that often, but when we do it's always short notice (same day) and she guilt trips us if we don't do it. I would just like a little more notice!
When he called I asked if he told them no and he said we would. I said even though we're not celebrating until this weekend, doesn't mean I don't want to spend time with you alone. He just can't say no to her for some reason because she guilt-trips him so much. I was even more pissed to learn that the reason why they want us to watch them is because she has a hockey game and he has a softball game. That's not a good enough excuse to make your IL's babysit on their anniversary ... especially when we watched them a couple months back for an entire weekend while they went away for their anniversary. So rude! I'm laying the smack down tonight and telling him that all requests need to go through me first and he needs to check with me first before agreeing. Uggg ... at least the beautiful flowers he sent to my work somewhat makes up for it!
I have a neighbor who did that to us a few times and one time she said she didn't have the money on her so she would pay me later. I said that is fine I know where you live. I find out later threw a friend that she wasn't expecting to pay me to watch her two kids all day long. She doesn't really ask us any more because she doesn't want to pay. She just leaves them with other neighbors (this is usually last min) who are too nice to ask for money. Also if there are a lot of ppl together they forget they have kids and everyone else runs after them because we don't want them to get hurt it drives me crazy.
Also I don't think I would live my kids with her because a lot of time she doesn't know where her own kids are.
I however have another neighbor with a little one who has paid my many times and once I found out I was pregnant I told them know more paying because I'm sure there will be time we need you to watch our little one so we can just trade sitting. (As we both don't have family living very close) They keep reminding me that I have to let them pay us back:)
