2nd Trimester

I am so pissed.

My freaking boss just emailed the entire personal letter I sent her about not coming back next year and the reasons why to the whole school board! I attached one to her email for them, a generic one that didn't go into detail about my medical complications or emotions, etc. and let her know that was for the board. I was just a "thank you for the past year, due to complications I won't be coming back, blah blah." I didn't feel any of them needed to know my medical history or personal problems. She turned around and emailed the very personal one I sent directly to her to all of them and then sent me some generic "Thank you, lets talk" email back.

I am so upset and embarrassed. I would have NEVER written half that stuff in there to her if I had known she would share it with everyone. I was close to her the past year and she was so involved with the first few months of my pregnancy, and so concerned, I thought it would be only right to give her some info on what was happening and why I couldn't come back.

I'm really so upset, I feel betrayed.

  • i would say something to her about it. ?that's awful! you didn't need your personal medical info forwarded on to the entire board.?

  • IMO, that's a pretty big deal- especially since it contained personal medical information.  I would have a very big talk with her about it.  That is not acceptable.

Def. say something to her about it, or to HR. That's totally inappropriate, especially because you included a separate one for 'all.'

    Agreed. Big deal.

  • very, very unfortunate.

Do remember though that email is not private and this can happen at any time. Next time verbally tell the private reasons so that anyting in print is safe to be forwarded on.

    I agree, relly bad.

  • Wow!  That would be very upsetting and I'd definitely talk to her about it.  Sorry you had to go through that.

  • I'd email her and ask her if it is possible to recall the email and resend with the appropriate letter.  I know that some may have already read the personal one, but others may not have gotten to is yet and you could maybe reduce the numbers who see all the details.

  • I would talk to HR as well. Why would she think it's okay to share all of that personal info about you? It's hurtful too, especially considering how you described your relationship with her.
