Removing a navel ring?

I've had my belly button pierced for over 10 years- I've never removed it or had it changed out.  And now that I am 18 weeks pregnant and really want to take it out - it's stuck!  I can't unscrew the ball in the middle to get it out.  Would it be weird to ask my OB to remove it at my appointment tomorrow?  Embarrassed  The place where I got it done has closed, and I don't know what else to do!  (Well, my brother offered his bolt cutters Stick out tongue)

    I would ask your OB to do it. I took mine about about a week ago. After I had my DD it went right back in (which was surprising to me.)

    I'm in the same situation (minus 5 weeks)... my OB won't do it. I am trying two pairs of needlenose pliers tonight to pry it apart. If that doesn't work, I'm cutting the ring and cleaning it to avoid infection. I don't know what else to do. The closest "piercist" near us is about 40 mins away... and I don't know how much they would charge for removal...

    I say it's worth asking.  Luckily when I took mine out it wasn't stuck.  Good luck!

    If there are any piercing/tattoo shops you could go to them and ask if they could remove it.

    I also took my navel ring out last week. Now that my stomach is growing, I felt like the ring kept getting caught on my clothes more often.

    Is it an actual ring, not a barbell?  I removed mine a long time ago with needle nose pliers.   If your OB can't take it out, just go to a local piercer.

    I don't think that your OB would remove it.  But, maybe that's just me, I don't think I would ask them.  I would go to any local places that pierce belly buttons and ask them if they can remove it.

    I would try going to another piercing/tattoo shop.  Even if they didn't put it in for you, I'm sure they would help.

    I took mine out a few weeks ago, it started to get itchy, which I took as a sign that it was time to let it go.

    I took mine out at about 8 weeks when I had the bloat and you could see it through my tight shirts. I can still get the ring in, it hasn't closed. I don't like the way it looks with a hole there though... kind of wish I never did it.

    FYI- A woman I work with had to have her piercing redone after her first pregnancy because she took it out (after 15 years).  So for the second and third she got a soft barbell made for pg belly buttons.  It worked and never bothered her.  It also keeps you from getting stretch marks around the bb.  She got it online, can't remember the site but if you google it I'm sure you'd find it.
